Viral Video: Leopard Stuck in 30-feet Deep Dry Well in Guwahati Rescued By Brave Vet

GUWAHATI CITY, INDIA Most people would jitter at the very thought of encountering a leopard. But not this braveheart vet from the Forest Department, who rescued a leopard from a 30-feet deep dry well in Guwahati.

The Wildcat got trapped in a dry well in a residential area in Guwahati, Assam. It was reportedly stuck there for close to two hours, when the forest officials were trying to rescue it. The vet climbed down the well and rescued the leopard using a harness. The video of this incident was shared by ANI and has left the netizens impressed.

Reportedly, on December 13, a female leopard strayed into a residential area in Guwahati’s Gokulnagar. That is when it accidentally fell into a 30-feet deep dry well. The Assam Tribune reports that the leopard was then growling angrily at the cameras, as officials and police tried to find a way to rescue it from the well. Locals too aided in the rescue operation.

The video shared by ANI shows Dr. Bijoy Gogoi, a vet with the forest department, tranquilising the animal and descending into the dry well with the help of a ladder and harness.

The leopard was then tied to a rope and lifted out of the well. A huge crowd gathered around to watch the rescue operation that lasted for close to two hours, state news reports.

Assam Tribune reports that the leopard was then taken to the state zoo. The medical examination conducted on the leopard detected no injuries.
