Anti-extrajudicial killings group Tindig Pilipinas offered a mass for the victims of human rights violations during the Martial Law regime of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.
“Sang-ayon tayo na kailangan natin humingi ng katarungan para sa mga namatay… Sana nakikita na lang natin ‘yung nakaraan bilang isang madilim na kasaysayan,” the former President and son of late democracy icon Corazon Aquino said.
Senators Franklin Drilon, Francis Pangilinan and Bam Aquino and former senator Mar Roxas, all from the Liberal Party, are also in attendance.
Supporters of the Liberal Party and some of the cabinet members of the former Aquino administration also attended the event.
Minority Sen. Bam Aquino, the former President’s cousin, meanwhile called on the public to be “more vocal” about the wrong they see in government.
“We need to be more vocal sa mga hindi natin gusto sa ating bayan. That’s part of our history yung peaceful protest. Hindi dapat sabihing partisan ang mga ganitong event (dahil) puwede tayo magkaisa dito. Basta pagdating sa pagpatay sa Pilipino, dapat tama na,” the senator said.
